Living in Almeria
The province of Almeria is situated in the eastern region of Andalusia in southern Spain. The landscape is varied, from snow capped mountains to fertile valleys and also arid desert regions, where films like "A Fistful of Dollars" were made.

The way of life is slow and relaxing and the Andalusian people are known for their friendliness and kindness. The cost of living is relatively cheap. There are many local markets where there is an abundant supply of fresh fruit and vegetables.
The summers are very hot, especially in July and August. Spring is very pleasant with a greener landscape and a variety of wild flowers. Autumn is also pleasant but the landscape is usually parched after the long hot summer, there can also be thunderstorms at this time of year. Winters are mild, compared to the UK, although there can be some dismal wet days. Nights can be chilly and in the higher regions there may be snow.
The properties we have on offer are situated in or around Oria, Chirivel, Albox, Cela, Lucar and Seron. Albox and the surrounding areas now have a thriving expatriate community, but for those who want to go truly Spanish there are the unspoilt areas around Cela, Lucar and Seron. Cela is known for its spa swimming pool, which is open all year and it is free to use. The properties for sale are in rural areas but most of them are within easy reach of airports. Almeria is approximately 1 ½ hours, Murcia and Alicante 2 hours and Granada 2 ½ hours. The Mediterranean coast is approximately 45 minutes drive. Activities such as golf, all types of water sports and even skiing are also within easy reach.
Most villages have at least one shop, and a doctors surgery once or twice a week. There is always a 24 hour surgery open in local towns for any emergencies. Small village schools take children up to the age of seven. There is a school bus service for collecting older children who live in the rural areas and attend schools in town.
